The miracle of engineering - oil and gas platform "Troll-A"

The platform "Troll-A" is a true miracle of engineering. The platform is designed for gas and oil production, located in the Troll gas field off the west coast of Norway. Huge construction height of 472 meters, underwater concrete structure in the 369 meters and a dry weight of 656 000 tons, weighs a total of about 1.2 million tons.
he entire platform has been collected in one place, and then transported to the sea. The platform "Troll-A" was towed more than 200 km from Watts (Vats), in the northern part of Rogaland (Rogaland), in the Troll field is located 80 kilometers north-west of Bergen (Bergen). On the towing it took seven days.
The platform stands on the seabed at a depth of 303 meters, and in one of the concrete pillars cylindrical elevator. To get on this elevator requires nine minutes on the platform above the water surface to the sea floor.
The thickness of the supports of "Troll A" platform is 1 meter, and they are made of concrete, reinforced with metal, and these supports are monoliths. The supports are fixed in the mud of the seabed by a group of six 40-meter vacuum anchors.
In 1996, the platform hit the Guinness Book of Records as "the largest offshore platform for gas production," now it is the title now belongs to "Petronius" platform.
