19-year-old Belgian completed her solo trip around the globe

Belgian Zara Rutherford circled the globe alone and became the youngest female pilot to circumnavigate the world. She visited 5 continents, 31 countries, covered 52 thousand kilometers and got into the Guinness Book of Records. The BBC writes about it.

A desperate girl set off on a journey in an ultralight Shark-type aircraft. "Shark" is considered the fastest ultralight aircraft. Its cruising speed is 300 kilometers per hour. Usually the plane is a two-seater, but specifically for this trip, the seat was removed from it and an additional gas tank was added. In general, Zara began flying on airplanes from the age of six - her parents, who are also pilots, took her on flights. And from the age of 14, the girl began to fly aircraft herself.

Rutherford's journey was planned to take three months, but bad weather and bureaucratic problems delayed her journey, sometimes for several weeks at a time. As a result, the total flight time increased by about two months. So, due to non-flying weather and frost, the girl was stuck for almost a month in the village of Ayan, Khabarovsk Territory. In 155 days, the girl covered more than 52 thousand kilometers, and also made stops on five continents and visited 41 countries.
